About 20 people attended an afternoon information session presented by Tim Wilson, chief of Syracuse Rescue Service and Nebraska state EMS director, on Friday, July 18, in the FirstBank of Nebraska Community Room.

Wilson discussed future funding for a grant program that Syracuse Rescue Service has been part of that brings together telemedicine capabilities with emergency medical service patient treatment. Syracuse was one of 26 communities across Nebraska that added Avel eCare services to its EMS service.

The $1.3 million initiative had been funded by a Centers for Disease Control Health Disparities grant, but now funds are needed to keep the program going. Syracuse Rescue Service is one of three EMS services in the state that is finding ways to keep the program going.
