The S-D-A Rockets hosted the 2018 NCC Invite on October 4, where Ellie Wilkinson blew away the competition with a first place finish.

Head Coach Grant Aden said, “Ellie Wilkinson is on the rise. She is ready to run at that special place in Kearney Nebraska. She jokes with me about doing something I couldn't do. I joke back right with her and say you'll have to prove it. To be on top you have to work harder than most. She has put in the miles and only time will tell if she is going to finish the season on a high note. We had a setback but were back stronger than ever!”

Wilkinson is looking to make another state appearance this season, after making it to Kearney in 2017.

During the 2018 NCC Invite Wilkinson placed first with a time of 19.23.93.

Freshman, Abby Ortiz, placed 11th and a time of 21.07.74; Mira Rahe, 23.13.96.
“Abby Ortiz is the freshman runner that is going to be making an impact years to come,” Coach Aden said.  “She has been right on that bubble of medaling almost every meet. It will be interesting to see how she competes Thursday at districts to see if she can punch her way to state.”

On the boys side, Junior, Grant Orchard, finished with a time of 18.47.39; Colton Rahe, 18.54.19; Seth Dey, 19.36.02; Brogan Behrends, 20.15.21; Justin Gress, 22.01.62

“The boys team is solid with a good group of juniors running and a lone senior,” Aden said.  “Justin Gress has been one of my best leaders I have had the privilege of coaching! The other three juniors will be competing and might surprise a few come Thursday! Watch out for the Syracuse Rockets!”

Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca will in district action on Thursday, October 11.  Location: TBD
