It was “Gold Out” night for the S-D-A Rockets, as they took on Nebraska City. Megan Reuter went 3-for-4 with an RBI on Thursday, September 13.

Down 5-0, the Rockets made a great effort in the last inning, but fell short 5 to 2.

The Rockets were able to scatter 12 hits, but getting runs across proved difficult, as 10 runners were left on base.

Sam Pester, who is batting .409 on the year, came close to hitting a HR in the fifth inning as the ball hit the bottom of the fence for a hard single.  Regrettably, Pester was left stranded.

In the bottom of the seventh, and the Rockets trailing, Alayna Nannen led off with a single and S-D-A started gaining momentum.  Nannen eventually scored on a bases loaded walk by Grace Damme.  With the bases loaded and two outs, Reuter hit a base hit up the middle that scored Lauren Siefken, and as another Rocket tried to score, Taylor Nicolay of Nebraska City threw the runner out at home to end the 5 to 2 ball game.

Hitting:  Pester, Nannen, and Brooke Carlson, each with two singles; Siefken, Mueller, and Brynn Krieger each with singles.

RBI: Damme, one.
Runs Scored: Nannen, Siefken, one each.

Sydney Wellstandt started for the Rockets and surrendered four earned runs on nine hits and struck out two.

S-D-A (4-10) will be at Bishop Neumann (15-3) on Monday, September 17.
