After a solid 2017 season, S-D-A volleyball Coach Courtney Vangroningen is excited with the players they have coming back from last season.
Vangroningen said there has been some role changes that the girls have to get use to, but feels they will be fine.  “We are trying to fit the rest of the puzzle together to get the best six players on the floor,” Vangroningen said.
The Rockets finished last year with a 24-5 record.  With that type of success, Vangroningen said the girls expect to win every game.  “I think the expectations have drastically changed from thinking they can win, to now they expect to win,” said Vangroningen.
As far as chemistry is concerned, this Rocket team has plenty of energy and trust in each other, but Vangroningen wants the girls to play loose and enjoy what they are doing.  “They don’t want to make mistakes so they kind of play into themselves,” Vangroningen said.  “We want them to go out and have fun because the game flows so much better when you enjoy what you are doing.”
Meredith Clark will be the big hitter for the Rockets this season and Vongroningen said that Clark is a leader on the floor.
Lauren Meyer, Jesse Moss, Brooklyn Nordhues, Brooke Snyder, and Megan Wallman are among those who have varsity experience and will make an impact in 2018.
S-D-A was scheduled to play its first game on Aug. 23, at Milford, beginning at 5 p.m.
