The VGA announced it’s Central Region tournament will be held at Arbor Links Golf Club in Nebraska City, NE on August 27-28, 2018.

The Veteran Golfers Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of Veterans through the game of golf.

VGA State Director, Jeremy Garcia, said that his goal is to give these Veterans an amazing experience while they are in the Nebraska City area.

Founded in 2014, the VGA is open to all U.S. veterans – wounded, non-wounded, disabled, active duty and retired – and their family members including parents, siblings and dependents who are 18 years or older. The VGA enables members to compete, socialize, and remain physically active through their shared passion for the game of golf. The VGA also focuses on Post Traumatic Growth initiatives to help veterans and their families cope with combat-related injuries. Using golf as an alternative activity, these veterans can choose a more productive way to deal with the challenges that impact their everyday lives.

In 2018 the Veteran Golfers Association have hosted nearly 250 tournaments in four different regions.  Each event was one day, 18-hole stroke play tournament hosting five divisions of competition: Veteran, Combat Wounded, Family and Senior.  Golfers earn points during post-season play in one of four regional qualifiers.

In each region, a total of 120 players will participate in four divisions: Veteran Men and Women, Combat Wounded, and Family.  There will be a total of four qualifiers in each region.  Twenty players will advance to the VGA National Championship at "The Olympic Club" in San Francisco, CA, on Nov. 4-7.

Arbor Links Golf Club has been selected to host the Central Region on August 27 through the 28.

Other regions include: Ballyhack Golf Club, Roanoke, VA, July 29-30 (North); Rio Secco, Las Vegas, NV, August 11-12 (West); Barefoot Resort, Myrtle Beach, SC, August, 18-19 (South).
