The S-D-A girls' golfers competed at the district tournament  at Woodland Hills on Wednesday, Oct. 5.
Although the Rockets did not qualify a team or individuals for state, Coach Sallie Agena said the fall campaign was still a memorable one.
"It was a fun season overall with the girls reaching many of their personal goals, which were to improve their overall scoring average for the season, medal at invitationals, and shoot a personal best score," said Agena. "Although they didn't meet the goal of qualifying for state, by meeting the other goals the season was a success."
Looking at the district results, Caitlyn Carlson led the Rockets with nine-hole scores of 62 for a 124. Emily Wellsandt shot 64 and 72 for a 136 and Lily Kastens shot 68 and 70 for a 138.
Erika Smith of Lincoln Lutheran was the individual champion of the event with an 89.
The top 10 individuals and top three teams advanced to state.
The top teams were Humboldt, 445; Lincoln Christian and Lincoln Lutheran. The Rockets did not have enough players for a team score.
With this campaign over, the Rockets will look to next year. Unfortunately, one of the top shooters will be graduating in the spring.
"We are losing senior Emily Wellsandt which will be a big loss to the varsity team," said Agena. "However, I am very excited that we have several returning golfers next year who are working to get ready to play at the varsity level.
"We have a good chance of fielding a full team at that level and that is exciting for the two returning varsity players who are looking forward to competing as a team."
"We are so lucky to have such great support from the parents and families of the golfers, the golf course staff and members who go out of their way to make sure that the season goes well for all involved," said Agena. "We thank them for their support throughout our season."
