Rosemary Stubbendeck

Rosemary Stubbendeck was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. She left this world suddenly on July 2nd, 2022.

She was born to Robert L. and Emeline Morrissey on September 6, 1944, in Tecumseh, NE, third born in a family of eleven children. After graduating high school as a Syracuse Rocket, she pursued her passion of caring for people by attending the College of St. Catherine’s Nursing School in Omaha. After graduation as a registered nurse in 1967, she worked briefly in Phoenix and California before returning to Nebraska to join the Red Cross Bloodmobile.

She met the man of her dreams, Harry Stubbendeck, back home in Syracuse and they were married on May 18, 1973. The new couple made their home in Unadilla for several years where Rosemary and Harry had two children, Will and Ann. The family eventually relocated to Lincoln, where Rosemary worked as a care specialist for the Nebraska Health & Human Services Department.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents Bob and Emeline Morrissey, brother Mike, brothers in law Bill O’Rourke, Roger Rohlfs, Stanley Miller, niece Julie Rohlfs and Harry’s parents. She is survived by husband Harry, son Will, and daughter Ann (Scott) Adams, as well as siblings Robert Jr. (Maggie) Morrissey, Linda Rohlfs, Anne O’Rourke, Sue (Bill) MacKenzie, Dick (June) Morrissey, Carole Morrissey, Cathy Morrissey, Bill (Kelly) Morrissey, Patty (Tony) Farley and sister-in-law Alice Miller, along with over fifty nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.

Rosemary retired in 2014 after a 40-year career in HHS where she was a true champion for proper care and coverage for all. She was an amazing cook and actually had a cookbook named after her. Rosemary was the embodiment of “Food is love”. She was a strong advocate for animals (particularly her dogs, birds, and daughter’s cats) and in short, was a fierce protector for all who needed assistance. Rosemary will be missed by Harry, Will, Ann, Scott, her black lab Sera and her entire group of family and friends.

At Rosemary’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. It was her wish that any memorials be made to Cause for Paws in Lincoln at 2445 S. 48th Street, Lincoln, NE 68506.
