The Syracuse American Legion Seniors baseball team scored two wins during a weekend run of three games.
After suffering a Friday loss to Waverly, the Rockets bounced back with dominant wins against both Friend and Nebraska City.
Seniors 11, NC 3
A 10-hit and 11-run offensive led the Rockets past their Otoe County rivals on Sunday, June 22. Gavin Kelch and Hunter Marrs both had two hit performances that included doubles. Tyler Sears also had two hits. Colton Sprague, Mason Jording, Mason Lintz and Peyton DeMello had singles in the win.
Lintz worked a complete game on the mound with five innings of work. He struck out two, walked two and allowed three earned runs on seven hits.
Seniors 15, Friend 5
A 10-run four inning was the difference for Syracuse in the win on Saturday, June 21.
Mason Jording doubled twice, while Gavin Kelch had three this and Tyler Sears and Colton Sprague had two hits each. Peyton DeMello and Mason Lintz had singles. Elliot Harden pitched five innings, struck out seven, walked none and allowed five earned runs on eight hits.
Waverly 8, Seniors 0
Three-run innings in the fifth and sixth cemented the Friday, June 20, win for Waverly.
Colton Sprague, Gavin Kelch and Mason Lintz had singles.
Gavin Kelch pitched 4.2 innings, struck out four, walked seven and allowed five runs, three earned, on six hits. Mason Lintz pitched an inning, struck out one, walked one and allowed two earned runs on two hits. Elliot Harden pitched a strike out, walked one and allowed one earned run on one hit.
Malcolm 14, Seniors 0
Malcolm pitched a no-hitter and earned the win.
Kyle Cavanaugh pitched three innings, walked two, and allowed seven earned runs on nine hits. Avery Liesemeyer pitched an out, walked three, and allowed seven earned runs on four hits. Gavin Kelch pitched two outs, struck out one, walked none, and allowed two unearned runs on one hit.
