The Syracuse – Painting the Town with Murals project is underway.
Painting has begun!
The schedule is being distributed through text and the Syracuse- Painting the Town With Murals Facebook page.
Painting is being done on weekends and weekdays.
The building wall where the mural will be is downtown at 5th and Thorne Streets at the NW corner and is owned by Riverstone Bank. They made an investment to have Hillman Masonry and Restoration repair the building’s wall and the primer has been painted on it. Funds have been received from the
Syracuse Area Chamber of Commerce, Otoe County Visitors Committee,
Syracuse Foundation and the Syracuse Area Economic Development Corporation to purchase paint, supplies and equipment rental. Additional donations for the mural project may be given to the
Syracuse Foundation, P.O. Box 41, Syracuse, NE 68446. Donations are tax deductible.
Hillman Masonry and Restoration will paint the background of the upper two-thirds of the mural to expedite the project. We will have volunteers paint the background of the lower one-third of the mural and then start painting all the details.
So, stay tuned as to when painters will be needed! A schedule will be distributed through text. Painting will be done on weekends and weekdays. Painting supplies will be provided but more plastic containers are needed to mix paint in and to clean brushes in. If the painters want to bring brushes and paint rollers, please do. The committee will also provide them. Each volunteer must sign a waiver before they start painting.
