Renee S. Cheney, 63 of Syracuse, passed away on March 18, 2021 at her home. She was born on November 16, 1957 to Donald & Maxine (White) Cheney in Lincoln.
Renee worked for the Syracuse Dunbar Avoca Schools for 32 years, where she served as a teacher, coach, and mentor to many students. She enjoyed camping, hiking, and traveling. Renee loved animals and attending any sporting event, especially if it involved her beloved Cubs.
She is survived by her wife: Marsha Rupert; Siblings: Jacque (Tom) Witts, Cindy (Galen) Nash, Doug (Dian) Cheney, Twin: Randy (Bernadette) Cheney; Stepdaughter: Jennie (Bryan) Huntington; Stepson: Rob (Kaitlin) Gotchall; 3 Grandchildren; also many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, March 25th at 6 P.M. at the Kimmel Event Center. Visitation will be held from 4-5:30 P.M. at the Kimmel with family greeting friends. Casual dress is recommended. Please wear your favorite sports team or travel destination shirts. The celebration of life will be livestreamed on the Fusselman Facebook page. Masks are recommended.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the family and will be split between the Capital Humane Society, Renee Cheney Memorial Scholarship and A Living Tribute.
