Delton M. Dovel

Palmyra/Douglas - Delton M. Dovel, 88 of Palmyra/Douglas, passed away at home on October 20, 2021. He was born on March 2, 1933, to Cecil & Vera (Malone) Dovel in Douglas. Delton graduated from Douglas High School in 1950 and then attended UNL. After graduating from UNL in 1955 he joined the Army until he was discharged in 1957. On August 21, 1960, Delton married Karen Lohmeyer in Falls City.

Delton started working as an Ag Tech for the University of Nebraska Agriculture College in 1960 and would retire in 1998. After retirement, he traveled with Karen including 20 days in Europe. He also enjoyed being outdoors on his farm, whether he was walking his dog Mickie or checking on the cattle.

He is survived by his wife Karen Dovel; children Diane (Steve) Kraus, Todd Dovel, Aaron (Sharon) Dovel; grandchildren Shane (Ashley) Kraus, Grace Kraus, Zoe Kraus, Martina Dovel, Leah Dovel, Delton Klopp, Michelle (Luke) Nicholson, Melissa (Justin) Busboom, Michael (Meranda) Hansen; great grandchildren Kinsley & Owen Nicholson, Mayson, Morgan & Maddox Hansen, Gage Busboom; also many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Shari Kaye Dovel, son Alan Martin Dovel and sister Delores Ell.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, Oct. 25 at 10:30 a.m. at the Second Baptist Church, 525 N 58th St. Lincoln. Burial will follow at the Wyuka Cemetery in Lincoln. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association, Douglas Fire & Rescue or Second Baptist Church.
