Margaret Eleanor Holscher
Longwood - Margaret Eleanor Holscher, age 89 of Longwood, Florida, was called to Heaven on January 11, 2021. She was born on a small farm, southeast of Cook, NE on April 3rd, 1931, the daughter of Everett and Gertrude Whitham. She attended Cook High School and while in high school, worked as a telephone switchboard operator. After graduation, she met and married her high school sweetheart Merlin on June 7th, 1949. They had four children, Creighton, Randy, Tim, and Lisa.
Margaret attended cosmetology school, then opened and operated "Margaret's Beauty Shoppe" in the late 60's. She and Merlin moved to Lincoln, NE in 1977, where Margaret worked at Miller and Paine and then Von Maur in women's wear and cosmetics. They briefly lived in Springfield, MO. Her husband Merlin passed away in August,1998 upon which she returned to Lincoln. She moved to Orlando, Florida in 2003 to be with her son Creighton and family. During that time, she worked at Macy's in Sanford, FL.
Many have fond memories of Margaret, who was as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, a truly beautiful person, and one who many felt blessed to have called friend. Her love of music, both singing, playing the piano and guitar, were a great passion of hers. She was also passionate about clothing fashion and style. She was impressively good with social media and was able to stay in to touch with many of her friends and relatives. Although she missed Nebraska, she eventually thought of Florida as her home as many of her family members are there.
She especially looked forward to visits from family and many friends. Margaret never missed a chance to be at family gatherings, the more the merrier. She had so many people that loved her...she received so many cards and letters and displayed them proudly.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Merlin Holscher; son, Randy Holscher; parents, Everett, and Gertrude Whitham; brother, Keith Whitham. She is survived by her sons, Creighton (Melissa) Holscher and Tim (Amy) Holscher; daughter, Lisa (Bob) Shuey; sister, Beverly Lane; brother, Neil Whitham; grandchildren, Sheila (Mark) Wirnowski, Amy Jo (Tom) Lorenz, Maggie and Rayshawn Holscher, Samantha and Tanner Shuey; great grandchildren, Matthew and Emily Wirnowski, Mckenna and Jack Lorenz.
