Linda Sue Killebrew, age 71, of Nebraska City, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019, at the Homestead Rehabilitation Center in Lincoln, following a hard-fought battle with colon cancer.
She was born Aug. 28, 1948, in Humboldt, to Estille F. Killebrew and Sherly A. Standerford.
She grew up in and around southeast Nebraska, later graduating from Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs, IA with the class of 1966.
Linda met and married her first husband Roger Herzog, of Nebraska City, in the Fall of 1969.
They had three children, Robert Loren Herzog, Kevin Lynn Herzog, and Sherry Kay Herzog. Linda and her husband worked together, farming on the Peru bottom and raising pigs.
In 1982, after her divorce, Linda met and was united in love to Steven Straub, of Syracuse. To this union three more children were born. Anthony Edward Straub, Danielle Marie Straub, and Alisha Dawn Straub.
Over the years Linda held many jobs, from working as a seamstress, to secretarial work, to managing kitchens, and working in a call center. She loved to learn and constantly taught herself new hobbies and trades.
She loved to sew, crochet, cook, fish, and play cards with family and friends.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Larry Dean Killebrew.
She is survived by her partner, Steven Straub of Nebraska City. Her children, Robert Loren Herzog and wife Tina of Davenport, Fla.; Kevin Lynn Herzog of Lincoln, Sherry Kay Herzog-Lamitie and husband Richard of Lincoln, Anthony Edward Straub of Nebraska City, Danielle Marie Straub of Nebraska City, and Alisha Dawn Straub of Omaha; 11 grandchildren, a great-grandson, and her half-sister Lori Jo Scott of Arlington, Texas.
A celebration of Linda’s life is being planned for January 2020 and a private Interment will be held in the Humboldt Cemetery in Humboldt later in the spring.
