Connie Lou (Bohl) Oelke, age 84, passed away peacefully in Sun City West, Ariz., on Sept. 27, 2019. Connie’s sister, Joy Hollmann, was with her.
Connie was born Feb. 27, 1935, in Humboldt, the daughter of Gale and Hazel (Williams) Bohl.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gale and Hazel Bohl, and her husband CMSGT Donald Oelke, Retired.
She is survived and loved by her children Kim Oelke of Anchorage, Alaska, Crest Oelke (Susanna) of Durango, Colorado, Lance Oelke (Kimm) of Destin, Florida; her grandchildren David Arnell, Sarah Arnell, Don Oelke, Justin Oelke, Samantha Oelke, Stephanie Oelke and Sammi (Oelke) Wassing (Matt); her great grandchildren Hunter Lenee Wassing and Wyatt Jay Wassing.
Additionally, she is survived by her siblings Harlan Bohl, Joy (Bohl) Hollmann, Ray Bohl and Bonnie (Bohl) Miller.
As a military wife, Connie lived all over the United States as well as Germany and the Philippines.
Her profession as an accountant allowed her to work with the USAF as a civil servant at Wurtsmith Air Force Base in Michigan, Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska, GE in California, Building Mechanics and Landscape Development in Colorado.
Upon retirement, she enjoyed many volunteer opportunities in Colorado and Sun City West.
Connie delighted in spending time with friends and family. Her smile was heart-warming, and her laugh was contagious. She will be with us always.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 2nd, at First Christian Church from 12:00 to 4:00 pm in Nebraska City.
