Richard N. “Red” Reeves, age 76, of Nebraska City passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Nebraska City.
Red was born on July 9, 1941, in Auburn; the son of Daniel McKinley and Edith Margaret (Brennan) Reeves.
He attended school in Peru and graduated from Peru High School with the class of 1960.
On Aug. 25, 1962, Richard was united in marriage to Sharon
Kay Rhoades in Shenandoah, Iowa, and to this union three children were born:  Michelle, Shane and Shawna.
He worked at the former Brickyard in Nebraska City and later for the Nebraska City Street Department where he served as Foreman.  
Red then worked at Concrete Industries in Nebraska City for several years.
He was also a farmer and livestock producer and did snow removal for various businesses in the Nebraska City area.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sharon Kay Reeves of Nebraska City; children:  Michelle “Shelly” Meredith; Richard “Shane” Reeves and wife Sherry and Shawna Bennett and husband Rick all of Nebraska City; five grandchildren:  Zach, Ashley, Holly, Mariah and Jakob; three step-grandchildren:  Toni, Steph and Ali; nine great-grandchildren; siblings:  Larry Reeves and wife Linda of Hamilton, Texas; Jerry Reeves and wife Nancy of Nebraska City; Bev Perry and husband Gary of Peru; sister-in-law Marcia Reeves of Peru; other family and friends.
Red was preceded in death by his parents and brother Carroll Reeves.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City.  Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Peru.
The family will greet friends on Friday (3/23) evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the mortuary.
