Arnold A. “Arnie” Durr, age 79, passed away on Jan. 14, 2018, at the Ambassador in Nebraska City.
Arnie was born on June 25, 1938, in Nebraska City, the son of Greg and Clara Ann (Webering) Durr. He entered the United States Air Force where he served his country from January of 1959 to April of 1961.
He was united in marriage to Sharon K. Gress on Jan. 23, 1977 in Nebraska City.
Arnie worked for some 38 years for the former LT&T Company (Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph) and was an active member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Nebraska City. He was also a lifetime member of the Eagle’s Club, the Otoe County Wildlife Club, and served on the Nebraska City Volunteer Fire Dept for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Durr of Nebraska City; son: Richard Durr and wife Leslie of Nebraska. City; four grandchildren: Meagan Durr and fiance Christopher Murray of Omaha, Ryan Durr of Nebraska City, Jeremy Durr of Omaha, and Stephanie Durr of Omaha; one sister Clare Lynn Slattery and husband Tom of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; mother and father-in-law Melvin and Norma Jean Gress of Nebraska City; brothers and sisters-in-law:  Jim Gress and wife Carolyn of Nebraska City, Sally McElroy of Bennington; Steve Gress and wife Chris of Ashland; nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Arnie was preceded in death by his dad Greg on Nov. 11, 1975, and his mom Clara on June 29, 2003.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Nebraska City with Fr. Mark Cyza officiating. Burial will follow at St. Benedict’s Cemetery.
The family will greet friends on Jan. 19 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City followed by a Prayer Service/Rosary at 6 p.m.
Memorials may be given to St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, Nebraska City Volunteer Fire Dept. or the Otoe County Gun Club.
