Margie H. Gibbs, age 91 of Nebraska City passed away Nov. 17, 2017, at The Ambassador in Nebraska City.  
Margie Faye Hiatt Gibbs was born Aug. 5, 1926, in Sidney, Iowa, to Vance T. and Hazelle (Ponte) Hiatt.  
She graduated from Sidney High School in 1943 and went to work for Ohio National Life Insurance Company in Nebraska City.  
Marjorie married Allison D. Gibbs on March 16, 1945, and when his father died suddenly in September 1945, she joined her husband in operating the 3 Gibbs Hatcheries.  
They closed the hatcheries in 1956 when the poultry business moved to the southern regions of the U.S.  
Margie and Al formed Gibbs Construction Co. and built many new homes in Nebraska City.  
They created a housing development called Broadview.  
Margie was a Nebraska Real Estate Broker for over 40 years.  
They also farmed all their married life and ran Gibbs Farms, Inc.
They successfully worked together side by side for over 72 years.  
Margie was very active in Bethel United Church of Christ and was a member for over 70 years.  
Survivors include her husband of 73 years; two children, Linda L. Gibbs of Nebraska City and Allison D. Gibbs, Jr. of Omaha; grandson, Allison D. Gibbs III and wife Angela; great grandsons, Ashton D. Gibbs and Aspen D. Gibbs of Gretna; brother in law, Glenn Wiar of Omaha; sister in law, Patricia Hiatt of Nebraska City; many nieces, nephews and cousins.  
Margie was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Glen V. Hiatt; sister, Lorraine D. Orr; father in law, A.F. Gibbs; mother in law, Bertha Gibbs; sisters in law, Elaine Usher and Doris Wiar.
Funeral services were to be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, at Bethel United Church of Christ in Nebraska City with entombment to follow in Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City.
Visitations were to be 1 to 8 p.m Monday at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City with the family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to Bethel United Church of Christ or Nebraska City Fire-Rescue EMS Division.
