Mable L. Gill, age 85 of Hamburg passed away at her home on March 31, 2017.

Mable Louise (Gardner) Gill was born on June 27, 1931 in Fremont County near Waubonsie State Park; the daughter of James Henry and Georgia Margaret (Rumery) Gardner.

She was united in marriage to Gordon L. Gill, Sr. on Dec. 30, 1947 at Sidney and to this union four children were born : Georgia, Donna Jean, Gordon, Jr. and Anne.

Mable was a housewife and homemaker. She also did cleaning at United Trinity Church as well as teaching Sunday School. Mable enjoyed working in her yard and garden, cooking and baking, crocheting, and making quilts for her family. She also cherished the many children that stopped at her home over the years.

She is survived by her children: Georgia Vaughan of Beaver Lake, Neb., Anne Garris of Richmond, Ind., “special” daughter Betsy Burge and husband Lelan of Hamburg, daughter-in-law Jill Gill of Plattsmouth, Neb.; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon, Sr. on Oct. 30, 1995, son Gordon, Jr. on Aug. 23, 1989; an infant daughter Donna Jean; three brothers; one sister; a granddaughter and her parents.

Funeral Services will be held Friday (4/7) at 11 a.m. at United Trinity Church in Hamburg. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery southeast of Hamburg.

The family was to greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday (4/6) evening at the Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg.

Memorials may be given to the Hamburg Rescue or cancer research at Nebraska Medical Center.
