Donna Jean Walters, age 71, of Nebraska City died Dec. 14, 2016, at her home.  
Donna was born April 15, 1945, in Nebraska City, the daughter of Eugene and Cecilia (Gress) Rhoades. She married Stephen A. Walters July 3, 1961 in Sidney, Iowa.  Steve died April 18, 2008.  
Donna lived in Nebraska City most of life and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  
She was co-owner and operator of Walter’s Construction with her husband and son for several years.  
She formerly worked as a food service supervisor at the Nebraska State School for the Visually Handicapped and had also worked at Sapp’s Truck Stop prior to her retirement.  
Donna’s greatest joy was her family.  She loved cooking and was known for her fried chicken and potato salad.  Donna enjoyed picnics, visiting the casinos and especially loved her dog Charlie.
Survivors include her daughter, Debra Heng and husband Dave, sons, Steven Walters and wife Brenda, Thomas Walters, all of Nebraska City; son, Scott Walters and wife Brandi of Lincoln; sisters, Sharon Reeves and husband Richard; Kim Tyson and husband Ron; brother, Randy Rhoades and wife Vickie, all of Nebraska City; brother Ronnie Rhoades of Pharr, Texas; grandchildren, Adam Walters and wife Jen, Derek Walters and wife Summer, Tyler Heng and wife Jamie, Amber Spidell and husband Tom, Alex Heng and wife Michaela, Ceceilia Walters, Morgan, Logan and Keegan Walters; 13 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; husband and sisters, Shirley Wolfe and Sylvia Graham.
Mass of Christian Burial was to be 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, 2016, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with burial to follow in Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City.
Visitations were to be 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City with the family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
A memorial fund has been established.
