Alma M. Kohout, 95, of Friend passed away on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, in Nebraska City.
She was born Sept. 21, 1921, in rural Friend. She married Edward Kohout, Jr. on  Feb. 18, 1947 in Wilber. Alma was a farmwife and homemaker.
She was a 50-year member of United Church of Christ in Friend and also a member of Turkey Creek Homemakers.
She is survived by daughter, son-in-law, Connie and Jerry Gieseking, Nebraska City; son, Calvin Kohout, Friend; grandchildren & spouses, Robyn and Tim Brown, West Brook, Maine; Laura Gieseking-Thomas, Nebraska City; Bonnie and Jeremy Nerud, Dorchester; Brian and Kelli Kohout, Crete; seven great-grandchildren, Thor and Sawyer Nerud, Lennon Kohout, Grayson Thomas, Scout Brown and twins Willa and Alma Brown; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edward; an infant daughter; an infant granddaughter, Hope Gieseking; twin brother, Elmer Jirsa; brothers, Victor, Louis and Amos Jirsa; and sister, Albie Kucera.
A funeral service was to be  10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016, at Friend United Church of Christ.
Burial was to be at North Fork Cemetery.  
Visitation was to be  Tuesday from 1-8 p.m. at Lauber-Moore Funeral Home in Friend with family greeting relatives and friends from 5-7 p.m. and one hour prior to service at the church.
