Nancy Lee Hathaway , 74 years, 8 months and 26 days, of Union, passed away on Oct. 13, 2016, at her home surrounded by her family.
Nancy Lee Crook was born Jan. 17, 1942, in Nebraska City, the daughter of Charles P. and Marjorie (Eaton) Crook.  
On Dec. 17, 1959, Nancy and Larry Ray Hathaway were united in marriage in Rock Port, Mo.
To their union they had a son, Larry Lee, and a daughter Jill Nadine.
She was a life long resident of  Union, where Nancy and Larry raised her children.
She held many different jobs, which included: American Meter, Union Orchard, Walmart, and lately, at Peterson Mortuary, since 1984.
Nancy was very out going and would go out of her way to make a person feel loved.
Nancy was the rock of the family and was the care giver for all of them.
She enjoyed working in her yard raising flowers, making jams and crocheting which she would give out at as Christmas gifts.
She active in Order of Eastern Star and was a pass Worthy Matron.
Nancy was preceded in her passing by her father, on Feb 23, 1986; daughter, Jill Nadine Jones on Jan. 19, 2009; mother, on Sept. 27, 2013; and her husband on Jan. 30, 2016.
Survivors of Nancy include  her son, Larry Lee Hathaway and his wife Lisa, of Union; her four granddaughters: Ashley Hathaway and her fiancée Jesse Drumheller of Union, Maegan Balfour and her husband Nolan of Nehawka, Nadine Jones-Kucera of Omaha, and Natalie Jones and her fiancée  Stephen Green of Omaha; six great grandchildren, Chloe D. Cavanzon, Augustus “Gus” Drumheller, Gavin K. Balfour, Acelyn J. Kucera, Grace M. Balfour and Rexton Green; sister, Mary S. Smith of Spokane, Wash.; brothers: Leonard C. Crook and wife Peggy of Nebraska City, and Larry A. Crook and wife Vicki of Nehawka; many other family members and friends.
Visitation was to be on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with Queen Esther Chapter 1, Order of Eastern Star 6 p.m. at Peterson Mortuary Chapel.
Celebration of Life Funeral service for Nancy Lee Hathaway was to be held on Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, at 10:30 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church in Nebraska City. Burial was to follow at East Union Cemetery near Union.
