Doris Lavonne Keran was born September 23, 1939 in Fremont County near Bartlett, Iowa, the daughter of Wayne and Maxine (Keran) Grosse.  She formerly lived in rural Fremont County and Tabor, Iowa and moved to Nebraska City when she got married.  Doris and Arthur Jerome Keran were married February 15, 1959 in the First Christian Church in Nebraska City.  Jerome died November 29, 1987.  Doris loved spending time with family and friends, reading and family history.  She also loved boating and fishing with her family and friends.  Doris was an active member of the First Christian Church – Disciples of Christ in Nebraska City where she also served as the church secretary and custodian for many years.  Doris had also worked as a secretary at Marshall Funeral Chapel for the past 27 years.

Survivors include her sons, Jerry Keran and partner Sharon Berwick of Nebraska City; Larry Keran of Lincoln; daughter, Linda Bohlen and partner Ron Woods of Council Bluffs, IA; grandson, Jeff Ervin and partner Emily Minshall; granddaughter, Lyndsey Keran and her brother and sister, Nathan Spidell and Sammy Parrott; grandsons, Jasper Keran, Jeremy Bohlen, Ryan Bohlen; granddaughters, Molly Keran and Rachel Woods; great grandson, Brycen Keran; great granddaughters, Hailie, Ashlee, Rhiley and Nicole Ervin; great grandson, Jeffrey Ervin, Jr.; sister Glenda Shelton and husband Jim of Harrisonville, MO; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Donald; son, David; brother, Maurice (Maury) Grosse; father in law and mother in law, Arthur and Ruby Keran; sister in law, Shirley Keran.

Doris died February 25, 2016 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Nebraska City at the age of 76 years, 5 months and 2 days.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the First Christian Church – Disciples of Christ in Nebraska City with Rev. Dr. Bob Kunz officiating.  Burial will be in Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City.

Visitations will be 1:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City with the family greeting friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.

Memorials are suggested to Friends of Faith Thrift Shop or the First Christian Church – Disciples of Christ.
