The Syracuse Area Chamber is Commerce will honor Syracuse Area Health with the 2018 Community Service Award at the annual Chamber Recognition Night to be held Jan. 24 at Rich Harvest Vineyard and Winery.
According to Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Carolyn Gigstad, in addition to employing 140 community members, SAH provides many great things for the people of Syracuse.  A state of the art brand new hospital opened in November 2018 after years of planning and construction.  This will provide the opportunity for the highest quality healthcare without having to travel.  Throughout the year, SAH hosts free public monthly presentation on various educational topics that are of interest to community members. The largest monthly attendance was 42.
For the past two years, employees have raised money to help families in Syracuse and Weeping Water areas pay utility bills. Additionally, several staff went Christmas caroling around town, and many staff prepared and served Christmas meals to those unable to get out or those alone for the holiday.
Complimentary cholesterol checks were offered at the Cass County Fair in 2018. Car seat technicians host regular car seat safety checks in the community in order to ensure proper safety restraints for children.
SAH has contributed to a variety of Chamber events by printing complimentary garage sale maps, concert fliers, and home and garden fliers.
The list is long of things SAH has done to give back to the community, and the Chamber of Commerce is excited to extend this annual service award to the organization.
