The Syracuse Senior Center, sponsored by the Blue Rivers Area Agency on Aging, made thousands of meals in 2017 to serve Syracuse and surrounding communities.
In 2017, 4,903 meals were served at the Syracuse Senior Center, and they prepared the food for the Cook meals on wheels program, Sterling Senior Center, Douglas Senior Center, and Palmyra Senior Center.
Through volunteers, 4,211 of those meals were delivered to seniors in their homes by the “meals on wheels” program.
Volunteers from First (North Branch) Lutheran Church, Syracuse United Methodist Church, Luther Memorial Church, St. John’s United Church of Christ, Preceptor Tau Sorority, St. Paulinus Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and Better Ba-C’s 4-H Club contributed to the program by delivering meals.
In addition to serving five meals a week, the Senior Center hosts morning cards, exercise groups, and bingo.
