New roofs, new hours at the Otoe County Museum of Memories

Press Release

The Otoe County Museum of Memories (OCMM) in Syracuse, recently reroofed three of their four buildings.

The church, garage and Kramer building all received new roofs. The parsonage building had been re-roofed more recently.

Museum volunteers understand the importance of keeping the buildings in good condition, and with that came new roofs.

Workers were busy with tearing off, then re-roofing and taking care to clean up the building and landscaping following the completion of the project.

Having new roofs on the buildings before the rainy season, and before school tour season began was important.

Volunteers have also been busy mowing, trimming and weeding the yard, and weeding the Rose Garey herb garden. The OCMM is participating in the WanderNebraska program, a statewide travel adventure program supported by the Nebraska State Historical Society Foundation.

In the past, the OCMM has been open on Sunday afternoons May through September.

In consultation with other museums, a decision was made to shift opening hours of the OCMM to Saturday afternoons from 1 to 4 p.m.
