Mary Lee Pietzyk of Syracuse, NE passed on Tuesday January 31, 2023. Mary Lee Elizabeth (Eichenberger) Pietzyk was born on April 1, 1930 in Steinauer, Nebraska to Adolf and Nora (Bradley) Eichenberger. She attended school at Pawnee City High School. After graduation, she attended Nebraska State Teachers College in Peru and the University of Nebraska, then taught grade school for several years. On June 21, 1958 she was united in marriage to Earl Pietzyk at St Mary Catholic Church, in St Mary, NE. They then bought a farm in Cook, NE, where together they raised five children. Family was the most important thing to her. She loved every minute with her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. She and Earl took several vacations across the US, Alaska, and Europe, creating lifelong memories.
In addition to her love of children, Mary Lee was an avid quilter, loved taking a turn around the dance floor with Earl, and especially enjoyed listening to her brother, Kenneth, sing. She was a devoted Christian with unwavering faith, and had a contagious smile that would light up the room. She is survived by her brother, Kenneth Eichenberger, her children and spouses, Gary (Martha) Pietzyk of Cook, NE, their children, Andrew (Julie) Pietzyk and their children Nora and Katherine Pietzyk, Michelle (Ben) Richards and their child Coco; Denise (Marvin) Logan of Lincoln, NE, and their children Tara, Luke and Sarah Logan; Kaye (John) Krause, of Cedar Creek, NE, and their children Michael (fiancé Marie) and Brandon (fiancé Ashley) Krause; Rex (Natalie) Pietzyk of North Bend, WA, and their children Shelby, Morgan and Olivia Pietzyk; Connie (Scott) McDonald of Chicago, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents Adolf and Nora Eichenberger, mother and father-in-law Paul and Edith Pietzyk, and her husband Earl Pietzyk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Paulinus Catholic Church in Syracuse, Nebraska with Father Ryan Salsbury officiating.
