Mary A. Griepenstroh, 92 of Syracuse, passed away on December 22, 2021 at home. She was born on February 8, 1929 to Wilkie & Sophia (Schalk) Harms near Syracuse. Mary attended country school at district 89.
On December 18, 1951, Mary married Arthur Griepenstroh at Christ Lutheran Church (Delaware). Together they worked on the farm and had a dairy. She was active at Christ Lutheran Church in the ladies aid and teaching Sunday school. Mary enjoyed Nebraska football, Syracuse sports and attending the Otoe county fair. She loved helping her kids and grandkids with 4-H and making them pies for special occasions.
She is survived by her children Linda (Ray) Coster, Roger Griepenstroh, Larry (Kim) Griepenstroh, Duane Griepenstroh (Paulette Luginsland); grandchildren Cheri Coster (Christopher Livinghouse), Scott Coster, Jeremy (Jackie) Griepenstroh, Lance Griepenstroh (Rachel Crook), Kelsey Ahrens; great grandchildren Braiden Kendall, Emma Levin, Elizabeth Coster, Emma Panko, Tyler Sears, MaKenna Crook, Taylor Griepenstroh, Gavin Ahrens, Kaden Griepenstroh, Thomas Ahrens, Chase Griepenstroh; siblings Ella Beccard, John (Marlene) Harms, Fritz Harms, Helen Stubbendick, Richard Harms, Ray (Betty) Harms; also many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Arnold Harms, Sterling Harms, Billie Harms; and granddaughter-in-law: Kala Griepenstroh.
Memorial services was held on Monday, December 27 at 1:00 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church (Delaware). Burial followed at the Christ Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation was held on Sunday, December 26th from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. with family greeting friends from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home in Syracuse.
Memorials are suggested to the Christ Lutheran Cemetery.
