The Syracuse Rocket Boys Golf team teed off Monday, May 19, at the district tournament held at Crooked Creek Golf Course near Lincoln, battling soggy conditions following a heavy overnight storm that soaked the area with several inches of rain.

Despite the less-than-ideal weather, which left the course wet and challenging, the Rockets delivered a strong team performance, placing 5th out of 15 teams.

Unfortunately, the top three teams advanced to state, and Syracuse narrowly missed that cut.

Leading the Rockets and headed to the state tournament was sophomore Mason Lintz, who posted a solid round of 84. He shot a 44 on the front nine and improved to a 40 on the back. His effort earned him a 9th-place individual finish.

“Mason never gets discouraged or flustered and always seems to play well on the back 9 no matter what tournament or course we’re at,” said Coach James Conradi. “He has been a solid golfer for us the entire season.”

Class C State Golf will be held May 28–29 at Jackrabbit Run Golf Course in Grand Island.
