A design and bid for a new playground was approved at the Syracuse City Council meeting Wednesday, April 9, 2025. The bid from Creative Sites in the amount of $380,258.50 includes the structure, Ecoturf poured rubber surfacing, installation and freight. The playground measures 76’ x 73’9” and will be situated south of the current playground in Williams Park.

“This dream is becoming a reality thanks to the incredible support and generosity of our community, city employees, and city council,” said Project Playground Committee Member Julie Beach.”Together, we raised the funds needed to make this space a place where every child can play, learn, and grow – side by side. We look forward to breaking ground this fall and can’t wait to see the joy this inclusive, safe, and engaging playground will bring to children & families of all abilities.”

Project Playground has been fundraising for over three years to bring an inclusive and accessible playground to Williams Park. The design was endorsed by the committee. Installation is expected to start in September and will take six to eight weeks to complete.
