Higgins doubles, scores to lead Rocket Juniors past NC

Wyatt Higgins hit a lead-off double in the fifth inning and scored on a sacrifice fly Mason Lintz and that was the difference in a 2-1 win for the Syracuse American Legion Juniors baseball team against Nebraska City at home on Sunday, June 22.

Syracuse finished with two runs on five hits. Other players with hits were Jaxen Walters, Max Cary, Mason Lintz, and Peyton DeMello.

Peyton DeMello pitched six innings, struck out seven, walked two and allowed one earned run on five hits. Derek Hampton pitched an inning, struck out one and allowed no walks and no runs on one hit.

Waverly 20, Juniors 3

Brogan LaFollette had two doubles while Teagan Jording, Mason Lintz and Jaxen Walters had singles in a loss to Waverly.

Braxton Kelch pitched 1.1 innings, struck out three, walked three and allowed eight runs, five earned, on three hits. Derek Hampton pitched two outs, walked three and allowed four unearned runs on two hits. Brogan Lafollette pitched 1.1 innings, walked one and allowed seven runs, six earned, on three hits. Phillip Armknecht pitched two outs, struck out one, walked none, and allowed an unearned run on three hits.

Malcolm 5, Juniors 0

Mason Lintz, Phillip Armknecht and Wyatt Higgins all had doubles, but the Rockets were held scoreless by Malcolm. Peyton DeMello had the other hit for Syracuse. DeMello pitched five innings, struck out five, walked two and allowed one unearned run on two hits. Lintz pitched two innings, struck out one, walked none and allowed four runs, three earned, on four hits.
