One Syracuse High School (Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca) student, Hunter Jazbec, was among 130 high school students from across Nebraska who participated in the 29th Nebraska Masonic All-Star Marching Band, which performed the halftime show for the Shrine Bowl game in Kearney.
Saturday, June 21, will be 154 years since our little village was platted and “officially” recognized by the state. Although no celebration has been planned, it’s worth mentioning! We’ve heard rumors of a street dance...more details later!

Thanks to these dedicated volunteers who helped deliver items from the Food Bank to 120 folks this past Friday: Steve Kroese, Dale Henke, Jerry Wallen, Bryce Wallen, Margaret Wertman, Galen Crawford, and Bob Wilhelm. Due to the July 4th holiday falling on the first Friday, the next Food Bank distribution will be Monday, June 30th.
Members of Grace Lutheran Church in Cook recently welcomed Bishop Dr. Frederick Shoo of the Northern Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT-ND) to their community. Bishop Shoo was accompanied by his wife, Janet, and Ronnie Green, Tanzanian Missions Volunteer Coordinator for the Nebraska Synod.
Weather permitting, work will begin June 16 on Nebraska Highway 2 (N-2), from reference post 501.00 to reference post 505.00, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
