The Rocket boys basketball team hosted Johnson County Central (3-2) on Thursday and traveled to Raymond Central (3-1) on Saturday. Against JCC, it was an evening of trading baskets with the Rockets taking a one-point advantage into the locker room at halftime with a score of 20-19.
The Class C1 #6 ranked Syracuse Lady Rockets are off to a 4-0 record after recent wins over Johnson County Central (2-3) and Raymond Central (1-2). Last Thursday JCC traveled to Syracuse.Coach Andrew Pryor commented, “We didn't play the prettiest game, but we were able to force lots of turnovers that gave us more opportunities to score. I thought our defensive play was pretty good which helped control the game. Our defense was a big part of this win.”
The Lady Rockets Basketball Team opened the season to a packed crowd with a home contest against Falls City on Friday night. Coach Andrew Pryor commented, “The first game of the year excitement was evident for us.
The S-D-A wrestlers scored a second place at the Conestoga Cougar Classic on Saturday, Dec. 4, and scored 173 team points.

With new head coach Adam Stotz this season, fans were eager to take a look at the Rockets boys basketball team in their home opener on Friday, December 3, against Falls City. The Rockets played a full-court zone press and 3-2 zone defense for the evening while the Tigers played man defense.
Robert Shanks, a junior wide receiver and defensive back, and Kayden DeGoyler, a senior offensive and defensive lineman, are Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca Rocket football representatives on the first team all district football team this year.
