Rocket girls’ had tedious pre-holiday week
The Class C1 No. 6 Lady Rockets completed a tedious week prior to the holidays with a win against Nebraska City losses against rated teams in Lincoln Lutheran and Elmwood-Murdock.

The Otoe Wildcats opened their basketball season Friday evening with a 54-49 victory over Murdock. The Wildcats came from behind in the final period to overcome a lead held by Murdock during most of the game.

Fall NCPA Academic All-State Award winners named
The Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) has announced the student recipients of the fall 2021-2022 Nebraska Chiropractic Physicians Association (NCPA) Academic All-State Awards. Since 2006, this awards program has recognized students who meet the criteria for nomination by their school in the season of their activity.

S-D-A athletics for Tuesday, Jan. 4, has the Rockets hosting a 6 and 7:30 p.m. doubleheader against Wilber-Clatonia. Friday, Jan. 7, has the Rocket wrestling team at High Plains for a tournament. The girls’ and boys’ basketball teams will be at home at 6 and 7:30 p.m. against Louisville.

A late second quarter surge extended inThe Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca girls’ basketball team played three games last week, beating Nebraska City, 59-19, and fell in games to Lincoln Lutheran, 42-17; and Elmwood- Murdock, 44-22. The Rocket boys’ basketball team lost games to Nebraska City, 42-19; Lincoln Lutheran, 54-35; and Elmwood-Murdock, 42- 34. The Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca wrestling team competed in tournaments last week at Platteview and Logan View. S-D-A finished sixth as a team with 91 points at Platteview. Individual placers where Barret Brandt, 138, first; Cy Petersen,152, second; Jackson Nordhues,195, second; and Jace Goebel, 120, fourth. S-D-A took seventh with 91 points at Logan View.
