With an overly busy week due to a makeup game inserted on Friday, the Rockets girls basketball team posted a number of wins in a short period of time. Coach Andrew Pryor commented, “We had a great week of basketball, and we did it together as a team.

In four games last week, the offense for the Syracuse Dunbar Avoca boys’ basketball team has started to ignite. The Rocket boys’ basketball team found a win in one game and were within 2-3 points in two other games last week. With the increase in offense, the boys are putting themselves in positions to add to the win column, but still need to find a crisp rhythm for a complete game.

Syracuse graduates Meredith Clark (‘19) and Lauren Meyer (‘20), both athletes on the South Dakota University track team, ventured to the UNL Adidas Classic in Lincoln on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 28 and 29. Meyer jumped 17’ 5 ½” for 9th in the long jump and 36’3” for 9th in the triple jump. Clark placed 5th in the women’s shot put with a toss of 48’ ½”. She also competed in the weight throw but fouled on each attempt. South Dakota continues their indoor season on Saturday, February 5, at the South Dakota Alumni Meet in Vermillion.
Syracuse Senior Kennedy Stanley, daughter of Jason and Trisha Stanley, recently signed to compete next year in track and volleyball at Doane University in Crete. Kennedy plans to double major in Elementary Education and Physical Education and get her coaching endorsement.
The Syracuse boys’ basketball team went into the Nebraska Capitol Conference Tournament as the #10 seed. Last Saturday they beat the #7 seed Conestoga to set up a match-up at the #2 seed Fort Calhoun which turned into a 45-75 loss.
Frontier Cooperative is offering a scholarship for a student entering a college or technical school to further his or her education in agricultural-related studies. The Frontier Cooperative Scholarship will be awarded to a son/daughter of a parent/legal guardian who is an active stockholder of Frontier Cooperative as defined by the Articles and Bylaws of this association.
Last week the Rockets girls’ basketball team competed in the Nebraska Capitol Conference as the #1 seed. Their first-round win over Arlington on Monday set up a rematch and win against Ashland-Greenwood on Thursday and a contest with the #2 seed Yutan on Saturday.
