Just a couple of school years back, Nebraska City High School moved its athletics and activities from the Eastern Midlands Conference to the Trailblazer Conference. Other teams in the Trailblazer are Platteview, Plattsmouth, Beatrice, Ralston and Wahoo. That’s a total of six teams.

The 1953 Otoe County Boys’ Basketball and Girls’ Volleyball Tournaments were hosted at Syracuse School Auditorium from Tuesday through Friday, Feb. 1-4.

The Syracuse boys hosted Milford (19-5) on Friday in their last regular-season game in a 25-70 loss. Scoring for the Rockets were Cooper Carlson 12, Nolan Werner 4, Braden LaFollette 3, Robert Shanks 2, Logan Zoller 2, and Jase Voorhees 2. The Rockets shot 2 of 4 from the line. The Rockets had 19 turnovers.
