Rocket girls’ basketball season highlighted by conference crown

With a record of 21-5 and a Nebraska Capitol Conference regular-season championship, the Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca Lady Rocket Basketball team had multiple players receive postseason awards this season. Nebraska Capitol Conference Lily Vollertsen, 1st team, 3rd year as captain, Lindsey Moss, 2nd team, Delainey Cast 2nd team Lincoln Journal Star Honorable Mention - Lily Vollertsen, Lindsey Moss, Delainey Cast Omaha World-Herald Lily Vollertsen, Class C1 2nd Team Honorable Mention - Lindsey Moss, Delainey Cast School records broke this season include the following: Individual Records Career points - Lily Vollertsen (1,339) Career field goals made - Lily Vollertsen (528) Steals in a game - Kaylee Bures (tied-9) Team Records Team free throw % - 66% Defensive points average - 30.2 ppg Wins in a season - 21 (tied) Top 3 Stats (rank) Career points average - Lily Vollertsen 13.4 (2nd) Career rebounds - Lily Vollertsen 577 (2nd) Career blocks - Lily Vollertsen 109 (tied 2nd) 3’s made in a game - Lindsey Moss 5 (tied 3rd) Steals in a game - Lindsey Moss 7 (tied 3rd) Assists in a game - Delainey Cast 8 (tied 2nd) As a team, this was the third consecutive regularseason conference championship, fourth consecutive district final, and fourth consecutive conference tournament championship appearance.

All Star Basketball Team

Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca senior Lily Vollertsen, back row and fourth from the left, was chosen to play in the 20th Annual 2022 Battle High School All-Star Basketball Game at Bellevue East on March 25. With mostly Class A and B players, Vollertsen was the only C1 player. With a score of 104-91, her blue team prevailed. The blue squad was coached by Troy Wharton, Boystown Student Affairs. The coach of the white team was James Ice Benford of Bellevue University.

Rocket boys’ basketball conduct banquet

The Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca end of the year annual boys’ basketball banquet was held on Sunday, March 20, 2022. Head coach Adam Stotz thanked his family, assistant coaches, parents and student managers for their efforts during the year. There were eight letters awarded. Three seniors will graduate, and the team returns two starters. The assistant coaches included Micah Buller, Phil Janssen and Grant Hallstrom.

NPPD mutually agrees to end services contract with Entergy at Cooper Nuclear Station

Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) and Entergy have mutually agreed to end their Support Services Agreement regarding NPPD’s Cooper Nuclear Station. This agreement has been in place since late 2003. While Entergy provided certain personnel for the plant (currently there are five Entergy employees at Cooper Nuclear Station) along with other support services as part of the arrangement, NPPD has maintained ownership of and responsibility for the safe and reliable operations of the plant. NPPD plans to continue operating Cooper Nuclear Station and will utilize Entergy and other available industry resources, as appropriate.
