Syracuse 10u soccer finishes season

Rockets break records at Capitol Conference meet

The Rocket track teams traveled to Yutan on Tuesday, May 3, for the Nebraska Capitol Conference meet. Senior Kennedy Stanley continues to break records in the pole vault. This time clearing 10’6. Senior Lily Vollertsen broke the record in the shot put with a toss of 43’. The girls’ team finished as runner-up with 108 points to the champion Arlington with 124 points. The boy’s’ team took fourth place and was highlighted by a firstplace finish in the discus by senior Jace Voorhees, 142’.

Rocket golf sweeps at Bay Hills

On Tuesday, April 26, the Syracuse boys’ golf team played at Bay HIlls for a nine-hole dual against Plattsmouth. The junior varsity team won 231-253. Scoring for the Rockets were Cody Damme 54, Isaac Hestermann 58, Colin Oelke 59, Brandyn VanLaningham 60, and Jace Stinson 69. Damme was the low scorer in the matchup.

College Track and Field Update

The Doane University track team participated in the Prairie Wolf Invite at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln on Thursday, April 28. Grace Damme (2020 SDA Grad), Doane, placed third in the javelin with a toss of 106’6. Doane competes in the GPAC Championships on May 6-7, in Crete.

Rocket track teams compete in three meets

The Syracuse High School track team split up on Tuesday, April 19, for the Nebraska Track Fest in Papillion and the Falls City Sacred Heart Invite in Syracuse. The Track Fest gives athletes an opportunity to compete against high-caliber athletes in all classes. The meet was highlighted by Kennedy Stanley breaking the pole vault school record with a height of 11’ and Kamdyn Stanley winning the long jump, 16’5.25. In the FCSH meet, the girls won the meet with 101 points over second-place Sterling with 94 points. Winning events for the Rockets were Emily Holz in the pole vault and Kylie Anderson in the discus.

College Track and Field Update

South Dakota Challenge, Vermillion, SD Discus - Meredith Clark (2019 SDA Grad) broke the USD school discus record on her first throw with a launch of 165’11 only for it to get broken by her teammate later on in the competition, 175’2. Shot Put - Clark, 2nd, 48’10.25, 4th in USD history Hammer Throw - Clark, 5th, 183’08 Triple Jump - Lauren Meyer (2020 SDA Grad), 6th, 37’10.75 Jim Dutcher Memorial at Doane College in Crete, NE Javelin - Grace Damme (2020 SDA Grad), 5th, 117’05 .
