In 2016 the Nebraska School Activities Association started offering the Special Olympics Unified Sport of bowling for people with intellectual disabilities. The Special Olympics Unified Sports is an inclusive activities program that combines an approximately equal number of special Olympics individuals with intellectual disabilities and individuals without intellectual disabilities on teams for competition and inclusive activities fostering an environment of social inclusion.

Morgan Anderson never intended to be the head coach so soon for the Storm women’s soccer team, but when Head Coach John Hakari took another job in South Dakota at the beginning of the season, the job became Anderson’s, and she intended to make the most of it.

Once subdistricts start, players know that any game could be their last for the season or the last of their high school career. The stakes are high. Everyone works 110% to bring their A-game. And Tuesday night was no exception. The score went back and forth between the Syracuse Rockets and Fairbury Jeffs at the Syracuse Middle School in subdistrict finals. A single possession could determine the outcome.

The Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca volleyball team finished its regular season last week at home against Arlington on Tuesday and at Louisville on Thursday. The Rockets made quick work of Arlington (1-25) in a 3-0 win, 25-8, 25-14, and 25-19.

And, KABOOM went the kills as Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca’s Kadyn Sisco earned the record for most kills in a season with a total of 425 after the game against Auburn (8-21) in the first round of subdistricts Monday evening. Sisco bettered the record of 400 kills held by Karla Zahn in 2000.

The Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca cross country team recently wrapped its season with meets at Ashland-Greenwood, for the Capitol Conference meet, and at Auburn, for the district meet. Below are results from those meets.
