Syracuse Youth Compete at Inaugural Karate Tournament
Twenty Syracuse area youth participated in the inaugural karate tournament hosted by SDC Karate, Sensei Kris Baehr. A boys’ bracket and girls’ bracket both featured four events: Kata; Power Strike Competition, Sparring and Board Breaking Competition.

Huskers’ graduation success remains at all-time high of 95 percent
University of Nebraska–Lincoln student-athletes continued the Huskers’ tradition of being a national leader in the classroom, posting a 95 percent NCAA Graduation Success Rate for the second straight year.
Six Doane Runners Named to NAIA Scholar-Athlete lists
Doane Cross Country placed six runners on the 2022 NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athlete lists announced on Thursday. In total, 1,076 student-athletes were recognized this year in Cross Country. To be honored, a student-athlete must be of sophomore to senior academic standing and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher (on a 4.0 scale).

Peru State stops Culver-Stockton on Senior Day
Peru State football defeated Culver-Stockton 17-12 on senior day. The Bobcats finish the season 6-5 overall and 4-1 in Heart North Conference play while the Wildcats finish 5-6 and 3-2 in conference play.

Bobcat MBB tops Missouri Baptist, raises mark to 4-1
The Peru State men’s basketball team defeated Missouri Baptist 85-80 in the Heart/KCAC/AMC Classic Saturday night. The Bobcats improve 4-1 overall, and the Spartans fall to 3-3 on the season.
Solar Electric for farms, homes and businesses workshop set
This workshop is for homeowners, farmers, and business owners who are interested in exploring solar PV systems. The workshop will review the function, feasibility, and economic return of solar electric systems for farms, homes, and businesses. Each solar installation is unique, and individuals have their own reasons for exploring solar installations. This workshop will help you decide if solar is right for you, by learning about how systems work, safety, the value of electricity, value of incentives, and how to evaluate quotes from installers. The workshop speaker will be Nebraska Extension Educator, F. John Hay, who has 10 years’ of experience doing solar economic analysis and installed solar at his home in 2017. Rockets get records during great VB season
The Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca Rocket volleyball team finished its 2022 season with a record of 20-11. The following records were broken during the season. Junior Kadyn Sisco broke the single-season kills record with 443. Overall, Kadyn had a hitting efficiency of .265. The record was held by Karla Zahn in 2000 with 400. Standing at 6’2, senior Katelyn Smith broke the blocks in a game with 11 during the Logan View game and blocks in a season at 94. The game record of 8 was held by Liz Kirchhoff in 1997and the season record of 93 was held by Katie Werner in 2002. Katelyn was second on the team in kills this season with 249 at .220.
