For just the second time in Peru State College football history, there will be a Bobcat representing the College as a member of the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. Garrison Dodge (Oakland) will be flying to New Orleans Thursday to take part in the Good Works Team activities leading up to the Sugar Bowl game on Saturday, December 31.
U.S. Senator Ben Sasse, a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, released the following statement after the House of Representatives passed the bipartisan Protecting American Intellectual Property Act. Sasse (R-NE) worked with Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) to introduce the legislation. Earlier this week, the legislation passed the Senate. It now heads to the President’s desk.
With the girls’ game canceled due to illness on the Nebraska City team, the boys got an early start on Dec. 13 in the Pioneer gym. And the evening started out with Syracuse winning the tipoff but quickly turning it over. Nebraska City turned it over as well. And that set up Syracuse with the first bucket at 6:55 by senior Jase Voorhees down low.

Applications are being sought for $350,000 in grant funds available for repair and rehabilitation of historic properties in communities of less than 30,000 population. The Rural Nebraska Historic Preservation grant program, being administered by History Nebraska, is intended for properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places, properties in a National Registerlisted historic district, or sites determined to be eligible for listing.

Syracuse High School Senior, Barret Brandt, has accepted an academic and wrestling scholarship from Concordia University in Seward. In the past 12 months, Barret visited a number of colleges deciding on Concordia which he feels will be a good fit for him. Impressed by the campus, staff and wrestling coaches and teammates, Brandt made the decision Dec. 13, 2022.
The Rockets hosted Elmwood-Murdock on Thursday in a highly contested game that went down to the wire. The Knights took charge early in the first quarter with an 8-0 lead. The Rockets finally scored at the 3:24 mark as Zoller, Brammier, and Voorhees connected, and the score was 7-11 at the end of the first.
The Syracuse Rocket girls’ basketball team added two marks to their win column last week to put them at 3-1 early in the season. They ventured to Johnson County Central on Thursday to face a physical Thunderbird team.
