The Syracuse middle school football team opened the season at Raymond Central on Sept. 11. The Rocket A-team fell 34-14. Scoring for Syracuse were Grady Armagost, touchdown run; Dalton Gartner, 2-point run; and Landry Kraus, touchdown pass from Gage Seelhoff. The Rocket B-team won 8-6. Landon Julifs had a touchdown run and Treyson Goebel had a two-point run. The Rockets were scheduled to play on Sept. 16 at home against Lincoln Christian and Sept. 18 at home against Auburn.
The Syracuse Rockets girls’ softball team endured a packed week of competition, playing five games in six days. Despite some tough losses, the Rockets closed out the stretch with a dominant victory over Falls City at the Falls City Invitational on Saturday, improving their season record to 4-14.
The Syracuse Rocket cross country team put together another strong showing on Friday, September 12, at the Platte River Rumble hosted at Mahoney State Park. Facing deep fields and challenging terrain, the Rockets showcased grit, speed, and several season-best performances.
The Syracuse Rockets girls’ golf team faced a busy week of competition. On Tuesday, September 9, the Rockets hosted a triangular with Ashland and Lincoln Christian. Grace Badget led the way, finishing 6th overall with a score of 54. Teammates Brooke Parsons (62), Alex Thompson (65), Autumn Behling (68), and Izzy Stubbendick (75) rounded out the varsity lineup.
