Restoring our nation

Recently, President Joe Biden delivered one of the most divisive addresses to the nation I’ve seen in my lifetime. Our country is headed in the wrong direction, and those who oppose the Biden administration’s radical policies do so because of our desire to leave a better, more prosperous America for future generations.

Time – to Ponder

Well, I have had a while to be by myself – like 5 days in complete isolation and 10 days of wearing a mask if I did go out of my apartment. Covid – like Elvis, has left the building. At least I hope it has. I imagine Covid symptoms vary from person to person as in most viruses and diseases.

Growth for a strong future

As communities across Nebraska’s Third District are turning their attention to back-to-school matters, preparation for harvest, and of course, Cornhusker football, this season I have had the opportunity to appreciate many of the things that make the people and culture of our state special. Various chores are synonymous with certain times of year. For example, cleaning a pool is a summertime task. In addition, rare is the instance that Mother Nature forces anyone to break out the snow shovels outside of winter. Raking leaves has long been a task for fall afternoons, but homeowners may be surprised to learn that they might be better off putting their rakes in permanent mothballs.

Twenty-five Years?

Editor’s note: This column was printed with observations about memories of Farm Aid 3, twenty-five years later. It has now been 35 years. The 2022 Farm Aid is set for Saturday, Sept. 24, in Raleigh, North Carolina. To see more information about Farm Aid, visit the website at www.farmaid. org/about-us/ Today’s Sunday Journal-Star newspaper featured an article that surprised me. It concerned a Saturday I spent in Memorial Stadium. It was about Farm Aid III, spearheaded by Willie Nelson It doesn’t seem possible that memorable day occurred 25 years ago. It was held at the height of the foreclosures on farm families during the farm crisis of the 1980’s.

Letter to the Editor:

Panama Wind Project makes sense for Otoe County I know there has been much discussion about the changes a wind project would bring to the community. I think it’s time to focus on the facts.
