Connecting Nebraska through 21st century infrastructure

Soon, I will gather with state and local officials to celebrate the opening of the Lincoln South Beltway. This 11-mile, four lane freeway connects U.S. Highway 77 to the Nebraska Highway (N-2). It’s expected to divert over 75% of the truck traffic to the new highspeed facility, saving significant travel time and bringing much needed relief to a congested thoroughfare through the city of Lincoln.

American energy independence

Nearly two weeks prior to the first day of winter, we have already seen snow, ice, and freezing conditions across the Third District. While precipitation is needed to relieve Nebraska’s fourth driest year on record, and the snowfall may have many dreaming of a white Christmas, colder than average temperatures are expected to accompany already historically high energy costs this winter.

In Nebraska, the crops we grow, livestock we raise, goods we manufacture, and innovations we develop make an impact far beyond our borders. Nebraskans have long known that. Increasingly, the world does too. Growing Nebraska’s international presence has been a pillar of my administration. Since I took office, we’ve made trade missions to 11 different countries to forge new partnerships and increase investments in the Good Life. As a result of these missions, our state has become its own global brand.
