Beverly A. Hawk, 82 of Syracuse, passed away at home on July 11, 2022. She was born on August 5, 1939, to Branson & Maureen (Rader) Schell in Cortland, NE. Bev graduated from Osceola High School where she was a popular student. On March 27, 1960, she married James Olsen and to this union Karen & Brian were born. They later divorced after 20 years, but stayed friends. She then married Donald Hawk on November 5, 1989, in Lincoln.

Neri John Holscher, 91 of Syracuse, formerly of Cook, passed away on July 10, 2022, at the Syracuse Good Samaritan Center. He was born on February 7, 1931, the son of Harvey & Nora (Bentzinger) Holscher in the house at 107 East Main St., Cook, NE. He was baptized by Rev. J.M. Hertel & confirmed by T. Phundt, all at St. Paul’s UCC (Osage) in rural Cook.

Melvin H. Kuhlenengel

Melvin H. Kuhlenengel, 92 of Syracuse, passed away on June 23, 2022, at the Syracuse Hospital. He was born on November 10, 1929, at home to William & Rosie (Behrens) Kuhlenengelken. On June 16, 1954, he married Marita Siepelmeier at St. John’s Evangelical Reformed Church (McWilliams). They were blessed with 4 children Mark, Mary Kay, Melody and Mona, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren, all of whom he loved deeply.

She was the beloved wife of the late Lloyd, loving mother of Cathy (of Missouri), Allan (Pam) (of Nebraska) and Lynette Scullen (deceased) (Rick) (of Ohio), grandmother of Matt Hillman (Shawna), Sarah Meints (Gabe), Brendon Scullen (Courtney) and Courtney Barto (Adam), great grandmother of James Hillman, Maverick and Everly Meints, sister of Rodger Hahn (deceased) (Pollie), Kenneth Hahn (Marilyn) (both deceased), Howard Hahn (Arleen) (both deceased), Marshall Hahn (Lucy) (both deceased) and Dwight Hahn (deceased) (Barb), aunt and great aunt of many.

Bernice Noerrlinger, 96 of Cook, passed away on June 19, 2022. She was born October 7, 1925 to Elmer and Mildred (Richter) Hopp. She married Walter Noerrlinger, Jr. on November 28, 1945 at St. Paul’s UCC (Osage) in rural Cook and were together for nearly 68 years.

Kenneth Clair “Ken” Price, 79, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 15, at CountryHouse in Lincoln. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 1 from 5 to 7 PM at Southgate UMC. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 2 at 10:30 AM at Southgate UMC with time of luncheon and fellowship to follow.

Jerry Verne Jacobson, 78, entered heaven on June 8, 2022. Jerry was born in Nebraska City, Nebraska to Edna and Verne Jacobson. Jerry, “Papa”, was a Nebraska farm boy raised in Dunbar, Julian, Union and Otoe, Nebraska graduating from Dunbar High School in 1961. He married Ruth Rogge in 1965. He then attended Peru State College in Peru, Nebraska. There he earned his bachelor’s degree in both education and arts, graduating in 1967.
