Syracuse High School crowned the 2025 Homecoming Royalty at the football game on Friday, Oct. 10.
The Syracuse High School Girls Golf team wrapped up its season on Monday, October 6, at the Class C District Tournament held at Hidden Valley Golf Course in Lincoln. After enjoying an unseasonably warm fall, the Rockets were met with a sharp change in conditions — rain, wind, and cool temperatures that challenged every golfer on the course.

Nebraska City Utilities is celebrating Public Power and Public Natural Gas Week, Oct. 5 to 11, along with more than 2,000 other community-owned, not-for-profit electric and gas utilities that collectively provide electricity and natural gas to 49 million people.
After a challenging start to the season, the Syracuse Rockets volleyball team has found its stride. Beginning the year 0-7, the Rockets have since gone 10-5 to improve their overall record to 10-12. Working hard to reach the .500 mark, the team’s steady improvement has been fueled by consistent work on every facet of the game—serving, serve receive, setting, spiking, blocking, and defense—just in time for the upcoming Nebraska Capitol Conference Tournament.
The Syracuse Rocket volleyball team (7-10) strung together an impressive week of competition, picking up three victories and showing resilience against tough opponents.
Activities scheduled throughout the day at the Otoe Barbeque offered something for everyone and brought together people from Otoe and surrounding communities. Held Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025, the day started with a pancake feed hosted by the Syracuse Volunteer Fire Department with proceeds going toward the purchase of new equipment. All events were held at the park. Bingo, hosted by St. John’s Lutheran Church, and bounce houses were offered throughout the afternoon. The Dairy Chef food truck was available for lunch and ice cream. The BBQ dinner of sliced beef made from the “original recipe” served 150 people. The night concluded with a Street Dance featuring 4 on the Floor at the Otoe Spur Bar and Grill.
