Blizzard road response recognized

Otoe County Roads Department employees Ryan Neemann, left, and Jeremy Cox, right, displayed dedication and commitment to the safety of others during the recent hazardous weather conditions. On March 4, Otoe County experienced blizzard conditions that caused significant drifting, frigid temperatures and near zero visibility while traveling. A woman and her children were stranded in a ditch in the western part of the county, and the vehicle’s location was not accessible with a vehicle. Neemann and Cox assisted law enforcement in finding the occupants and bringing them to safety. “We are grateful to have commendable employees who do not hesitate when called upon for help,” said Lead Supervisor Brian Briley, center.
