All Syracuse-area first, second and third grade girls and boys are invited to participate in the Lil Miss and Lil Meister pageant at GermanFest Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 9 a.m. on the stage on 5th Street.
The Old Avoca Schoolhouse in Avoca, Nebraska will be streaming three on line Scottish Fiddle Tunes Workshops for violins, violas, cellos, basses, mandolins, and soprano recorders.

Budgets for 2025-2026 were approved at the Syracuse City Council meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025. The council approved a one-year proposal from Julie Bauman, CPA for 2025 audit services.
Syracuse area girls in grades K-5 are invited to a STEM Monster Party August 28, 2025 from 5-7 p.m. at the Syracuse Public Library. Girls will build a monster and learn more about Girl Scouts. RSVP to Courtney Blackston at CBlackston@GirlScoutsNebraska.org. The party is free. An adult must accompany girl.

Sixty years ago, the 1965 Syracuse American Legion Post 100 Midget baseball team won the Class B State Championship title game played at Grant, NE. On their way to the title with a 23-3 record, they defeated Plattsmouth and Harlen in the District, Strang and Blue Hill in the Regional and finally Maywood and Papillion at State. Team members were Mike Lankton, Robert Peterson, Jay Van Housen, Larry Wellman, Perry Woods, Dan Crownover, Ricky Patton, Dick Morrissey, Doug Severs, Tom Patton, Bill Formanack, Dale Kruse, Steve Dean, Bob Brandt. They were coached by Roger Beckman and Tom Lewis and it was the first year of coaching for both.
