Peru State College hosted its 39th Annual District History Day Contest. The College was the host to 100 students in the region competing for a spot at the Nebraska State History Day contest on April 1, 2023.
Syracuse Cub Scout Pack 337 hosted a Pinewood Derby Sunday, Feb. 26 with boys in kindergarten through fifth grade racing cars and competing for quickest time and best in show.

Dakota Wesleyan football and head coach Ross Cimpl ink 35 signees on National Signing Day. Tiger football signed 15 athletes from here in South Dakota, nine from Nebraska, three from Wyoming, two from California and one from Minnesota, Colorado, Michigan, Missouri, Maryland and Utah. The 2023 DWU Tiger recruiting class totals 10 different states across the board.

Two Syracuse High School Esports teams placed at the winter season state competition in Division 3 on Feb. 4. Playing Clash Royale seniors: Gabe Dilley and Leland Dilley and juniors, Jacob Panko and Jared Panko were state champions. Playing Mario Kart: Gabe Dilley, senior Jeremy Bohaty, junior Cooper Johnson and freshmen Ethan Bohaty and Caleb Bush placed third. The winter season eSports team sponsor was Micah Buller.
