The two-day NRD Legiislative Conference brings together Natural Resources Districts (NRDs), elected officials and public-private partners integrally involved in conservation, technology and policymaking. The conference also provides attendees an opportunity to learn how Nebraska’s NRDs work with ag producers, state and federal agencies, and members of the public to protect Nebraska’s natural resources.
Syracuse Area Girl Scout Troop 20756 has received their Bronze Award. The troop created Birthday Boxes that are being distributed through the Syracuse Area Churches Food Pantry in Syracuse. The girls wanted families who could not afford it to have a cake and supplies for a party. Each box contains a cake mix, frosting, candles, birthday plates and napkins, a coupon to Terry’s Family Foods in Syracuse for oil and eggs all put in a disposable cake pan.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded $5 million in grants to develop a diverse talent pool of aviation maintenance technicians. The Aviation Maintenance Technical Workers Workforce Development Grants were awarded to organizations that will teach technical skills and prepare participants to pursue aviation maintenance careers.

Farm operators and agronomists from across the state will obtain valuable crop production-related information from on-farm research projects conducted on Nebraska farms by Nebraska farmers in partnership with University of Nebraska faculty. These research projects cover products, practices, and new technologies that impact farm productivity and profitability.
The Nebraska Public Service Commission recently approved an Order (C-5272) awarding 60 grants totaling nearly $18 million from the Nebraska Broadband Bridge Program (NBBP). The vote to approve the Order (C-5272) was 4-1 with Commissioner Crystal Rhoades dissenting.
