Since July 30, 2021, Julia Prat has called Jason and Ronda Stinson along with their three sons, Brendon, Jace and Josh and their Boxer, Daisy, her family. Julia arrived from Manresa, Spain, last year and celebrated her 17th birthday in the U.S. in October. She is experiencing her senior year of high school in Syracuse.
Coin Show Returns to Nebraska City
The 57th annual Nebraska City Coin Club Show took place Sunday, Feb. 13, at the Nebraska City Eagle’s Club, 600 First Corso, in downtown Nebraska City. Dealers from a four-state region were on hand to buy, sell, and trade coins, currency, tokens and medals. They also offered free appraisals. Refreshments were served by the Nebraska City High School FCCLA. Organizers said the event was well attended.
Juilfs named for Syracuse Chamber Member of the Year award
Melissa Juilfs is the recipient of the Syracuse Area Chamber of Commerce’s Member of the Year Award. An Insurance Agent at Granneman Agency, Melissa is an active member of the chamber and has served as the Chair of the Tannenbaum Committee for several years, rallying volunteers and securing sponsors.

Avoca Schoolhouse to stream Irish Fiddle Tunes Workshop
Avoca Schoolhouse to stream Irish Fiddle Tunes Workshop The Old Avoca Schoolhouse in Avoca, Nebraska will be streaming an Irish Fiddle Tunes Workshop for folks who play violin/fiddle, viola, cello, bass, mandolin, soprano recorder, and alto recorder. The workshops will be on Saturday, March 12, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. (CT) and Tuesday, March 15, from 7 to 8 p.m. (CT). During these workshops we will play and discuss tunes from the Greenblatt & Seay publication, “Irish Fiddle Tunes for Two”. Different tunes will be played at each session. A treble clef version of the sheet music for the tunes being played will be displayed on Zoom’s screen during the workshop. The cost for each workshop is $10. The cost of each optional book is $15 (includes shipping if ordered with workshop registration).
